I am currently within a one-year contract at Calgary Municipal Land Corporation (CMLC) which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary tasked with carrying out the Broadway Maylon Master Plan for the East Village, a 44 acre downtown redevelopment project. My position at CMLC is incredibly rewarding, as it demands both my urbanism and architecture knowledge in many of my daily tasks. As a Development Coordinator, I am involved on a number of exciting fronts: I work with our client’s design teams, which currently include Snohetta, nArchitects, 5468796, MBAC, and W Landscape Architecture and Architecture, among others, ensuring that the best possible design occurs for each particular site; I advocate for the long-term best interests for the East Village by working with consultants and planners from the City of Calgary in the review of proposed documents; I coordinate and facilitate the provision of public art projects in the area; and, I aid in the strategic planning of the Corporation by conducting research that is both speculative and reflective, providing insight into what we’ve done and where we’re heading.

As an overall approach to the design of architecture, urbanism, and landscape, I see the three as being intimately linked. Value in any of these categories, most often, derives from the careful consideration and integration of the others. What I find particularly interesting and captivating in the spaces we culturally produce, is how they are inhabited. The spaces that I tend to appreciate are ones that provide platforms for collisions between the multiple identities that inhabit the contemporary city. These type of spaces, at their best, empower those who reside, use, act, or occupy towards individual and collective realizations of expanded possibilities.

It is my hope that the content of this site depicts my honest attempts at designing these types of spaces, along with insights into my design, analytic, and artistic sensibilities.

Thanks for taking the time to visit.
